Horror anthologies appear to be making a powerful comeback to the horror community. With the recent releases of Trick ‘R Treat, Tales of Halloween, V/H/S, and Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories, just to name a few, it is no surprise that fans are receiving more of this type of film. I am a sucker for anthologies, so I am ecstatic about the release of a new all-female horror anthology entitled XX. The anthology will feature four dark and nightmarish tales written and directed by some pretty damn talented women: Annie Clark, Karyn Kusama, Roxanne Benjamin, and Jovanka Vuckovic. Ask yourself this, who would not want an all-female anthology? Over the year’s females have played some of our most iconic & legendary roles in horror by bringing characters to life leaving a lasting mark on our lives, so why not have females run the show behind the scenes? I am digging it! XX appears to be an exceptional film based on the trailer and will offer viewers a variety of horror tropes throughout its menacing 80 minute run of sheer terror!
XX is here to kick off 2017 in a very amazing way, and it will be here quite quickly with a February 17th release date for VOD and theaters.
Synopsis:
XX is a new horror anthology with a gender twist – all segments will be helmed by female directors and will star female leads. The directors have been given free creative rein within budget and time constraints, but all of the segments themselves will involve the horror genre.
