It shouldn’t be a big surprise to most that we would see a new Goosebumps film, the original did make a whopping $150.2 million worldwide at the box office with a budget of $58 million in 2015, so yeah, a new installment was inevitable, and I’m okay with that! R.L Stine took to social media giant Facebook yesterday evening to make an announcement of the new sequel along with a brand new book, “Happy to announce that filming has begun on the Goosebumps movie sequel. Title: Slappy Halloween. Meanwhile, the new Goosebumps SlappyWorld book has just been published…” Slappy Halloween? Wow, the combination of a great book series (over the past 26 years) and for the film to have Halloween in the title (assuming it takes place on Halloween) is a total win! According to IMDb.com Jack Black is rumored to be reprising his role as “Stine” and the film also has a working title of Goosebumps: Horrorland before the official title was announced yesterday.
Whatever the plot, title, maybe, I am just glad that production has begun, we often see so many stalled productions, some never seeing the light of day. Slappy Halloween is set to terrorize cinemas on October 12, 2018.
