No one ever wants to work the graveyard shift!

Like working the graveyard shift wasn’t already creepy enough! Now imagine working the graveyard shift, at a hospital, being haunted by some unexplained otherworldly entity. That’s exactly what happens to our protagonist Megan Reed (Shay Mitchell) in The Possession of Hanna Grace.

The Possession of Hanna Grace is a 2018 American supernatural horror film directed by Diederik Van Rooijen and written by Brian Sieve. Taking the idea of an exorcism victim and combining it with a creepy morgue at a hospital was not a bad concept. But I honestly was expecting the film to deliver more scares and more mystery than what it actually did.

The film starts off strong, with the first scene beings in what seems to be a Catholic Church. Two priests and a girl tied up to a bed who is clearly under the possession of a demon, while her father stands to the side and watches the whole thing. Next scene cuts to Megan Reed aggressively punching a boxing bag at the gym. We don’t really know her character right away but as the movie progresses, we learned that Megan was an ex-police officer who lost her partner in a traffic stop incident and is trying to cope with that. She had some kind of addiction because we see her going to what seems to be AA meetings. Next, she lands a new job at a hospital morgue, working the graveyard shift. As if that wasn’t creepy enough, she’s in charge of receiving the dead bodies and examining them all by herself.

Now I’m not going to give away too many details because I do want you to give this film a chance, but I do want to say that after receiving the body of Hanna Grace, things only get eerier and weirder throughout the night.
