Not to be confused with the same-named 1989 Christmas Horror classic, ELVES (2018) is the sequel to THE ELF (2017)- not to be confused with the Will Ferrell movie…

This is not where the confusion ends, unfortunately.

First, do not be fooled by the poster art for the film.  At no point do ANY elves walk around wielding weapons. A disappointment to this critic.  Now that that is out of the way:

In ELVES (2018), a group of friends awaken an evil elf who seemingly possesses them, one by one, to commit heinous acts of violence and murder.  Clover (Deanna Grace Congo) and Leah (Stephanie Marie Baggett) work together to try to stop it before it’s too late. But then, there is another elf, and another group of friends… and THEN there is Krampus-type looking killer on the loose, too!  There is too much going on and it is next to impossible to keep straight.  Even having watched the entire movie until the end, it’s confusing to see how it all fits together.

The running time of this movie is only 80 minutes and by current movie standards, that is a short movie.  Sadly, it feels like it’s at least 2 hours.  The acting is wooden and amateurish throughout, and the visual effects are mediocre, at best.  Maybe this film could be better having watched THE ELF (2017) first? Maybe not.
