I’m just too high for this right now!
4/20 also known as ’The Official Holiday’ for weed enthusiasts now gets its own horror slasher film! Smoking weed is not as taboo as it used to be so seeing a horror film about it is totally entertaining and a very open-minded concept.
4/20 Massacre begins with five young female companions, celebrating a friends birthday on April 20th. Upon their arrival, they are pulled over and warned by the local Park Ranger, Rick, not to stray too far from the trail due to reports of illegal cannabis farms operating. The women later encounter a seemingly crazed young man who warns them of a bloodthirsty killer who is pursuing him after he stumbled across just such a farm whilst hiking. The girls disregard both warnings and go about their day looking for a camping spot.
Director Dylan Reynolds stayed true to the classic horror concept, where the characters being haunted one by one. There were definitely twists that were unexpected, which made the film entertaining. It was bloody, gory, and sexy. My favorite scene has to be the ending, I do not want to spoil anything but I will say that the ending gave me a feeling of empowerment and confidence to never underestimate your self in a bad situation. There are some extremely brutal kills in the film that the practical effects do great jobs with. Like every other camping slasher film, this one also makes me think about not going out to camp in the hoods, hoping to not run into anyone’s territory, because who knows, you might not make it back!
4/20 Massacre is a perfect film to watch with a group of friends or in the upcoming 4/20 festivities, might as well light one up while you’re watching this film.
