Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

“Blood feast”, the title leaves little to the imagination, there will be blood and there will be a feast, sounds fun right?

I´ve seen the movie with high expectations, the cover attracted me immediately, it claims to bring mutilation, slaughter, an ancient rite, plus the hottie Connie Manson and the quote “you read about her in playboy”, I know it will call you just like sirens calling sailors.

The film shows the killer’s face from the bare beginning, Mr. Ramses, an unusual character with disturbing painted eyebrows and an enormous devotion for the Egyptian Goddess Ishtar, we know all fanaticism can´t be good, but some fanatics just go beyond.

On my way to get to know a little background about human sacrifices I found out that, in some cultures even in modern times women are burned alive when their husbands die, as an extreme loyalty act, even in 2005 cult members were accused of killing innocent child and eating their hearts in the name of some mighty God, and in 2013 a cult leader known as “Black Jesus” was castrated and murdered after killing young virgins as sacrifices.

The cult of Ishtar is based on murder, blood offerings, Mr. Ramses ,who is a marvelous cook specialized of course in Egyptian culture, has a plan to satisfy his beloved deity, all he needs is to get some young girls take their lives without mercy, what is curious about this bloody rite is that Ishtar is actually a love Goddess, I feel empathy for this wako, at last he is only looking for blood… I mean he is only looking for LOVE, I guess some people has an outrageous way to do things in name of romance.

The film was released in 1963, and as an exploitation film it was the first of its kind, I can totally imagine people covering their eyes in terror and gals holding their men in panic, fearing to be watched by this predator while they sleep. We know quite well the history of serial killers in America is endless, but even if the term was first used in 1970, we can agree on calling Ramses a serial killer and a monster thirsty for blood.

“When they pull out her tongue,  pull off her face, pluck out her eyes, blood runs cold” , Glenn Danzig sings in the song named after the movie Bloodfeast, a song he recorded with the Misfits and later with Samhain, Danzig sings it unleashing violence, expressing perfectly what goes on in Mr. Ramses´ head in that precise moment when he is about to kill. “I´m possessing your death, possessing your blood, possessing your head” , the crazy eyes murderer looks at his victims and slashes them with all cruelty, disposed to do his job like a butcher and create all kind of exquisite delicacies with young meat, culminating his pagan ritual with one last human sacrifice, and finally watch his Goddess become flesh and bones.
