Bluray Review: The Strain: The Complete Second Season

If there is anything that is really gratifying, it’s the fact that we have a Guillermo del Toro vampire TV show. The Strain is awesome and now The Strain: The Complete Second Season is available to own. Any one who wonders where the horror is these days, trust me, TV is where it’s at.

Season two basically draws from the first half of book 2. There’s a new mayor in town, George Lylein (Ron Canada), who claims to have vampire free zones. Meanwhile, Eph (Corey Stoll) and Nora (Mía Maestro) continue to work on a cure. Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) is searching for the Occido Lumen, a book containing secrets to destroying the master vampire!

But you really only want to know about the special features right? Here is the breakdown…

  • Deleted Scenes – The usual suspects. Nothing incredible but some nice bits for fans who want more.
  • Meet the Crew of “The Strain”
  • The White Room – Provides a deeper look at everyones favorite torture chamber!
  • Audio Commentary on “Night Train” featuring Carlton Cuse
  • Gag Reel
  • Beyond the Page – A look at the translation from the book to the series and what goes into making it work.
  • Sentient Strigoi – A look at the vampire race and their hierarchy.

If you’re a fan of The Strain then this set doesn’t disappoint. It is available now and you can pick it up HERE.
